Tonight, I searched Whitney Houston. Whitney Houston was one of the greatest singers of our time and she passed away yesterday. With her death being current, I would expect to find a lot of current information on her. When I searched for Whitney Houston on Delicious.com, I found 5,262 search results. While on Google, I found about 1,460,000,000 search results. This does not come as a surprise to me as Google is one of the most popular search engines in the world and it finds the most current post on popular culture. Where as Delicious.com is a site where its members must provide the information to load to the site. I find the results from Google to be more credible than the information I found on Delicious.com. On Delicious.com, I found more comments from site users than actual information. With users posting a lot of their personal opinions, it does not make the information as credible and factual. On Google, there is more information such as news reports from CNN, her biography, numerous links to her music, information about her family and much more. As other websites such as various news networks and Houston's publicist providing information to entertainment sites, the information can be found on Google as soon as the updates are made. On the other hand, a member of the Delicious.com site would have to find the information and load it to the site. From this alone, Google would have the most current information.
Delicious.com - As a visitor to the site, it does not seem too user friendly. I was immediately distracted by all of the little white flags on the page that I could not click on. Also, some of the information is provided in other languages such as Spanish and Japanese. A few of the hits were in English. I assume if I join the site, I would have to pick my language of choice.
Google - Google provides numerous hits to information about Houston and I could click on every link. Google does not require those who are using the search engine to sign up. With Google, it is very easy to find information and the layout of the page is welcoming.
